Currently serving as Secretary for the Associations Board, Janet has been a member and director since 2013.
Janet grew up in Charlottetown, PEI in an Irish family until she discovered Banff and moved to the West Coast in her early 20s. She had a small business for several years making and selling crafts, then attended UBC obtaining a Masters of Social Work degree.
Working for a number of years in the child welfare field both for government and private non-profit sectors, Janet then went back to UBC and obtained a law degree. She began working in criminal law in Vancouver eventually moving into her own family law practice.
Janet moved to the Comox Valley in 2002 and continued to practice family law until retirement. These days, you will find her playing Bridge, Majong and make quilts as well as dog walking and travelling - mostly to Mexico in the winter.
“I believe in strong communities where people care about each other and give back in whatever way they can. I'm happy to be a member of the board of Comox Valley Family Services and am here to serve in whatever way I can.”
