Comox Valley Family Services Association is pleased to be partnering with YMCA-YWCA of Vancouver Island to bring Y-Mind Groups to the Comox Valley.
First step - Attend one of the following online information sessions (Zoom link will be emailed to you upon registration):
Wednesday January 13th @ 4:30pm
Wednesday January 20th @ 4:30pm
Y-Mind is a free 7-week psychoeducational and support group for young adults ages 18-30 who experience anxiety.
The group will run Wednesday evenings from February 3rd to March 17th, 4:30pm to 7pm. Our goal is to provide an in person group in Courtenay, but we may need to move it online depending on provincial health regulations.
Participants learn healthy coping skills, connect with other young people in the community, and get support in a safe and friendly environment.
The group provides a safe, supportive environment where youth can meet others in a virtual setting who have had similar experiences and includes educational workshops about anxiety and other mental health-related topics: practicing evidence-based mindfulness techniques during workshops, a proven tool to help manage anxiety; an introduction to 'Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT)', an evidence-based therapy that uses acceptance; and mindfulness strategies 'Take-home resources' to help manage anxiety in between weekly meetings.
If anxiety is impacting your life and preventing you from doing what you want or need to do, this group can help support you. Join us to learn mindfulness techniques, get helpful tools and resources, and meet other like-minded young adults.
