Family Development Worker – Part-time/Casual to Full time   

When you apply to this selection process, you are not applying for a current specific job, but to an inventory for future vacancies with CVFSA. As positions become available, applicants who meet the qualifications may be contacted for an interview.  

Workers will provide crisis intervention, ongoing support, safety planning, parenting support, life skills training, and referrals to other resources and advocacy. Referrals come from the Ministry of Children and Family Development.   Work is usually one-on-one support work to families, children and/or youth, as well as the possibility of supervised access (child/youth and family). Hours may include occasional evening and/or weekend work.  

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in a relevant field (minimum of a Diploma in the human services field) - Degree preferred
  • Two years’ experience in a related field
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Criminal record check for working with children and vulnerable adults
  • Reliable transportation and clear and current drivers abstract
  • Valid First Aid and CPR certification

Candidates should have the ability and/or be willing to learn how to work as part of a team, problem-solving skills, crisis intervention skills, as well as have good written and verbal communication skills.
